Torrance Adult School

Part of the Torrance Unified School District, Torrance Adult School has three Centers and several community locations where life-long learning opportunities are available to anyone 18 years of age or older.

State supported classes are offered for Adult Basic Education, Adults with Disabilities, Career Technical Education, Computer Training, English as a Second Language, Health and Safety, High School Subjects, Home Economics, Older Adults and Parenting.  These classes are taught by State of California Certificated teachers.

Our Adult School also offers Community Education classes which are fully funded by the student fees and represent a wide range of interest areas.  Instructors in these classes have demonstrated expertise in their subject areas.


Griffith Center

Located directly to the east of Wilson Park, Griffith Center is our registration Office.  Located at 2291 Washington Ave in Torrance, Griffith has 12 daytime ESL classes that meet Monday-Friday.  It is the home of our Floral Design/Floristry Training courses and offers classes for Adults with Disabilities. You will also find that many of our community education courses meet at Griffith Center.


 








Levy Center

Levy Center is located at 3420 W. 229th Place and is the home of Torrance Adult Schools computer training offered by our Career Technical Education division.  Computer classes are available morning, afternoons and evenings - Monday through Friday.   Parenting and ESL classes  meet Monday - Friday at this site, as well as a variety of Older Adult and Community Education Classes.  Levy is the home of our very popular dance classes.

 


Hamilton Center

Hamilton Center is in North Torrance at 2606 West 182nd Street.  Students wanting to obtain their High School diploma, take the GED or CAHSEE examination will attend this center.  Hamilton also has ESL classes, Career Technical computer and accounting classes, Parenting (Parent Child participation classes), and community education classes. Our Torrance Adult School counselor has an office at Hamilton and is available to help students develop their study plan for completing graduation requirements and can offer referrals when appropriate.
